Between The Ears, featuring England Cricket Legend Graham Gooch OBE
On 18th June 2019, Graham Gooch attended the Bluebird, Chelsea – becoming our fifth CowCorner Event legend!
The guests arrived at 6pm to a complimentary gin and tonic and beautifully presented canapes, in anticipation of the arrival of one of England Cricket’s greatest ever players. At 6:50pm our guests were seated in a private space as Director Fabian Cowdrey welcomed the chosen charity, The Lords Taverners and the inspirational Chelsea Pensioners who made up the prime seats in the front row…
A two minute clip underlining Graham’s outstanding impact within cricket and the strength of character he possessed was played to the audience. The clip featured Australian legend Shane Warne, suggesting ‘Graham was the finest English batsman he ever played against…’ Host and former England Captain Chris Cowdrey then welcomed Graham Gooch up the aisle and onto stage!
An educational, yet heart warming interview commenced as Graham revealed his life-story and how he reached the pinnacle of international sport. From the moment he set foot into an Essex dressing room, overcoming a pair on England debut versus Australia, that rebel tour decision, captaining England, World Cup Cricket, his 100 first-class centuries, mentoring Sir Alastair Cook and the methods he employed on a daily basis to ensure success.
“We all have fear of failure, it’s a human condition. However, the ability to put that to the back of the mind and maintain a strong belief system is vital.”
A line that rung true with our audience. Graham received questions from our audience before accepting photos and signings with all of our guests. The night concluded at 830pm, as guests enjoyed a stunning 25% off the world-famous Bluebird restaurant bill.
We were honoured to host one of the greatest sportsman this country has produced. We’d like to thank all of our guests and our partners Club D&D for a brilliant night.
